Attached is an updated template for slides to introduce the panel. You need to fill in the specifics about your school, the panelists and moderator. Depending on how much time and how many speakers you have for the panel, we typically ask each speaker to talk for a brief time (5-10 minutes, as appropriate). They can hit some of the themes in the questions or other topics that they feel are appropriate. It's often happened that the panelists revise their introductory remarks to support comments by other panelists or to avoid overlapping. We would ask you to choose someone there, perhaps yourself, as a moderator. Here's the general format: Moderator welcomes the students to the panel Moderator introduces the panelists using the slides I sent you after having filled them out Moderator states the ground rules for the panel (each panelist speaks for x minutes) Panelists speak for the allotted time (typically without a need for control) Moderator calls for questions Panelists or moderator select questioners and answer questions Moderator calls for last question and closes the panel at the right time Moderator asks the students to fill out the evaluation forms that are returned to us. An evaluation form is attached. We've found it important that the panelists express enthusiasm for their work, and a love for their life in general. Students are interested in whether panelists have families and passionate hobbies, outside of work. After the panel, please hand out the exit surveys to attendees. They are important to us as they provide feedback and also let us measure the impact of the series. Any questions, or other help I can give, please let me know.
