The University of Oklahoma (OU) would like to participate in the Distinguished Lecture Series. This request has been approved by my Director (Dr. John Antonio, cc'ed on this email) and the Chair of our CS Colloquim series (Dr. Lakshmivarahan, also cc'ed). It would be best for us to schedule during late September or October of 2004. Our colloquia series usually meets on Friday afternoon, because this is the time when the fewest CS classes are scheduled. Evening times would also be possible, although this will conflict with some classes. We would advertise this program to our students through our comprehensive electronic mailing lists, SWE, ACM, IEEE, WIS, and the Engineers Club (a College of Engineering wide organization). We would also do classroom announcements in all CS classes. We also have degree programs in computer engineering and electrical engineering. We should be able to obtain access to their electronic mailing list to announce the series. We will also post announcements on College of Engineering bulletin boards, and in the student paper. We are geographically close to several other institutions (University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City Community College, SouthEastern Oklahoma State University, to name a few). All of these institutions have OU graduates on their CS faculty and are easy to contact. I will be the host (female, Associate Professor). My contact information is below. We're about 30 minutes from the Oklahoma City Airport. We offer B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in CS. Program B.S. M.S. We have just hired our third woman faculty member (Dr. Amy McGovern) who will join our faculty as an Assistant Professor on January 1, 2005. Amy will be in town after September 10, even though she will not start work here officially until January. Deborah A.
