Event Description |
| |
Business intelligence (BI) is the commercial term for using information within organizations to make informed decisions, and to run operations effectively based on known data. While the industry has highly successful tools for accessing, displaying, and using conventional business data, enterprises often demand more sophisticated data integration and more complex analysis beyond current cube solutions. One of the most pressing issues is to support informative views into the business processes themselves. This is challenging because of the disparity of business process formalisms used, and the informality of many business processes. A more fundamental challenge is the rich variability in the business processes of larger organizations, that might stem from national/regional factors, and from variations in the nature of the customers, the products and the services being delivered.
The goal of this seminar is to bring together industry practitioners and academic researchers to present and compare conceptual models in use or development for support of business intelligence. The seminar aims at sharing practical experiences and discussing current research explorations. The seminar will last 4 hours, and include both industry and academic speakers.
